Planning a getaway to Parksville or Qualicum Beach with your furry friend? You're in luck—this area is a dream come true for dogs and their humans. With scenic walking trails, welcoming businesses, and off-leash beaches and parks, there's no shortage of ways to explore Vancouver Island together.

Here are some of our favourite dog-friendly spots near Oceanside Village Resort:

🐾 Top Dog Parks & Off-Leash Areas

1. Top Bridge Regional Trail

Just minutes from Oceanside Village Resort, this trail offers a beautiful forested walk along the Englishman River. Dogs are welcome on-leash, and they'll love splashing in the water at the bridge. It's perfect for a morning adventure or a sunset stroll

2. Springwood Park Off-Leash Area

Located in central Parksville, this designated off-leash dog park is fully fenced with plenty of space to run and sniff. There are benches and shady spots for owners to relax while their pups burn off some energy.

3. Qualicum Beach Off-Leash Area

Between Laburnum Road and the Judges Row area, there's a designated stretch of beach where dogs are allowed off-leash during specific times (usually early morning and late evening). Always check signage and seasonal restrictions!

4. Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park

While the main beach is on-leash, the surrounding trails are incredibly dog-friendly and make for a lovely nature walk. The wide paths through old-growth forest offer a peaceful escape and the ocean views are a bonus!

🐕 Other Dog-Friendly Stops

  • Mount Arrowsmith Brewing Company offers a fantastic outdoor patio where dogs are welcome to relax while you enjoy a local craft beer. It's the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring.
  • Fern & Cedar Brewing Company: This Qualicum Beach brewpub has a dog-friendly outdoor patio, complete with water bowls and a welcoming vibe for furry guests
  • Little Qualicum Cheeseworks at Morningstar Farm lets you walk your dog on-leash around the grounds, plus it's a fun stop for local treats (for humans).
  • Many local shops in downtown Parksville and Qualicum display "dog-friendly" signs in their windows, so keep an eye out!
